Pg. 32 — RENDLESHAM FOREST 26 DECEMBER 1980 by Joshua St. Claire

sky lantern descends
not all falling stars
are falling stars

strange astronomers
finding new constellations
among the pines

no telescope needed
to see a new moon
forest eave rainbows

gargantuan owl
slowly prowling Rendlesham
nature driven mad

gravity reversed
falling star returning
to the firmament

sunrise shows
triple press of a star’s thumb
branding the earth

invisible marks
thrilling the Geiger counter
limbs burned by starfire

hands and eyes
writing history’s scroll
among sniggers

the lantern of truth
is a star fallen among pines
snuffed out

where
starlight once was
void
