Preview of Upcoming Starship Sloane Magazines — An Interview with Dr. Rosalia Arteaga: First Woman Elected Vice President of Ecuador

Now that the debut issue of this literary journal has been successfully published, we’re on to the next projects!

We will soon be opening the submission portals for the second issue of The Starlight SciFaiku Review, then The Flying Saucer Poetry Review, and after that, for the debut issue of The Lotus Tree Literary Review.

As of this writing, work by actor and artist Dave Vescio is lined up to be the cover art for The Starlight SciFaiku Review and work by Ronan Cahill is lined up to be the cover art for The Lotus Tree Literary Review, his will also be the featured artist interview.

The Lotus Tree Literary Review will be Starship Sloane’s first foray into exploring all literary genres and art themes. From pure fantasy to political commentary, from Beat poetry to environmental essays, it’s all on the table, including science fiction.

I am looking forward to contributing a couple works of art to the issue and an interview that I conducted some years ago with Dr. Rosalia Arteaga, the first woman to be elected vice president of Ecuador, who then, very briefly, became its president. All of my questions were directly informed by my reading of Niccolò Machiavelli’s extraordinary political treatise, The Prince, a political handbook for neophyte rulers, written for Lorenzo de’ Medici, Duke of Urbino. The events surrounding Dr. Arteaga’s succession to the presidency and quick removal thereafter through the machinations of a fervently machista political bloc are worthy of any book or screenplay involving palace intrigue and high-stakes politics. The insights provided by Dr. Arteaga are fascinating.

After the aforementioned journals have been published, we’ll be back at it again for the 2nd issue of The Space Cadet Science Fiction Review.
