Editor’s Choice Award

The work of everyone in this literary journal deserves this award. Of course, by appearing in this magazine, your work is already the editor’s choice! As always, this was a truly difficult decision to make, and I sometimes think that just flipping a coin would make things so much easier.

When I read Joshua Gage’s poem, “Skies over Carson Sink,” I was absolutely floored by his description of those skies. It was quite extraordinary and left me feeling euphoric and a little punch drunk. Then, the last line made me see stars. The poem is sublime science fiction and the images of those skies left me reeling. I can’t say for sure, but I think that the particular choice of words he uses in describing those skies just might be a literary first. The poem paints vivid portraits of the sky in your mind. No spoiler alert necessary, I’ll leave it at that.

So, without further ado, the Editor’s Choice Award goes to Joshua Gage for “Skies over Carson Sink.”
