The Crawfordsville Monster
The Crawfordsville Monster was a flock of birds!
It wasn’t a shape-shifting atmospheric beast
that lived in the clouds on a fly-about.
Please! You saw killdeers’ white underbellies.
A trick of the light as the birds hovered,
temporarily discombobulated by a storm.
And those flying rods that show up
on the photos you’ve been taking?
Imperfections in the film stock. That’s all.
Now if you wanna try livin’ in the clouds,
be my guest. More terra firma for the rest
of us landlubber types with binoculars.
