Poetry by Matt Schumacher

A Giant Lion’s Mane

Turns out the sun’s surface sure is furry.
The heliosphere is a golden-haired animal,
throwing flares of flaming hair,
vivid aurorae, irradiances,
corona. All an unfathomable lion’s mane.
There will be blackouts of polar surveillance radar
and space weather centered where the planets are tethered.
Just wait until that raging beauty breaks out of her cage.
