Wendy states that the following themed group of SciFaiku, titled “Close Approach,” was inspired by a photo from the recent rover on Mars, showing the vibrant display of the milky way in the Martian night sky.

Close Approach

dodge radiation
humans reach for god of war
take the close approach

journey through darkness
we are joined with industry
legacy is saved

falling in thin air
breathless anticipation
regolith awaits

rainbow galaxies
compete with the stars above me
Mars is now my home
