31. Poetry by Patricia Furstenberg

World Wide Webb

lonely rooster call
till kettle boils, traffic honks
Webb roams the mute sky

in cosmic silence
Webb floats alone. Alone, Ma
watches morning news

morning news explode
wars, earthquakes melt like icebergs
Webb floats through void

after Hubble’s haze
Webb, like Ma’s new spectacles
avoiding mirrors

Tarantula star
a field of bluebells swaying
only for Webb’s lens

Tarantula mist
young stars in blue pose for Webb
like gaggles of girls

Childhood to Finals
caught by Webb’s Tarantula
itsy bitsy tear

new cosmic dust blur
Ma wipes mist from her glasses
in vain

pristine silent snow
snowflakes melt, glaciers melt,
the Queen is dead
